Simon Andre.ws

Hi there! I’m Simon, a software developer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Boston.

Until recently, I was a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. There, I earned an M.S. in computer science in 2022 and a B.S. in computer science and mathematics in 2021.

While at UMass, I developed an interest in computer science education. During my time there, I designed and taught a first-year seminar on the history of computing, ran a section of the Computer Science I course, served as a TA for courses on AI and ML, functional programming, discrete math, and data structures and algorithms, and helped design a Python programming course for Amherst-Pelham Regional High School.

I have previously interned at Amazon twice and Klaviyo and Analog Devices once each. Interspersed between all that, I’ve also spent time supporting robotics research at UMass/UT Austin and MIT.

Appalachian Trail thru-hike map

I completed a northbound thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2023. The map below shows my nightly locations up through Pearisburg, Virginia (~637 miles in). I have records of the rest of my stays and will complete the map soon.
